Red Mountain South LID Update

The Kennewick Irrigation District Board awarded a contract to RH2 Engineering, Inc. on October 4, 2011 for a 30 percent preliminary project design.
Project Schedule
The preliminary engineering design will be completed and presented to the Board of Directors by April 17, 2012. If the preliminary design for the project is economically feasible and acceptable from an engineering perspective to the KID Board of Directors and Red Mountain South LID water users, then the project will immediately proceed to the next phase, Final Design. [NOTE: the water users do not have a vote or a veto. They can advocate for or against the project to the Board, but the final decision is the Board’s alone to move ahead, modify or negate the LID.]
Upon KID Board of Directors’ approval of RH2 Engineering’s performance, RH2 will be awarded the final design contract for design and engineering services for the Red Mountain South LID project through a non-competitive process. If approved, the Red Mountain South LID final design project will be awarded by the KID Board of Directors in May, 2012. The final project design and engineering is tentatively scheduled for May 2012 through June 2013. The construction management phase of the Red Mountain South LID project is tentatively scheduled for June 2013 through December 2015. This project schedule is contingent upon the results of the cultural, historical, and environmental evaluation, the acquisition of rights-of-way and easements, and the Point of Diversion Change Application on the Yakima River not being appealed.
Project Cost Estimate
The cost estimate indexed from the original 2009 project estimate will be approximately $14,900,000 if construction is completed according to the current schedule.
