The 2020 irrigation season is officially coming to a close soon and what a long strange year it’s been! From pandemics, murder hornets and riots to smoke filled skies and holidays being cancelled, we’ve seen just about everything we could in a year. It’s been tough, at times sad, but we’re a resilient bunch and I have no doubt we’ll come out stronger on the other end.
If you’ve followed us from November of 2019 (When I started) you’ll remember my introductory post letting you know my priority was to keep everyone informed on things happening within our district. Hopefully I exceeded your expectations!
The most common question we get this time of year is when the water will be turned off. So without further ado, here are some important updates for you to know.
| ➡️ Typically our season ends mid-October. Our Board votes on the official date which will happen in the next couple of weeks. When that vote happens, I will make the announcement official on social media, our website and on our digital advertising.
| ‼️Please do NOT blow out your sprinklers until about a week AFTER the announced date. If you do that before, water will flow right back into your pipes which could cause damage over the winter.‼️
| After water is officially off, you may still see water in our canals. This is normal! We use that left over water for testing purposes.
| Don’t forget! Your second half payment (if you paid in full, please disregard) is due October 31st. Pro Tip – Paying on time will ensure that your entire payment is applied to your assessment. When a payment is late the late fee and interest is paid first, then the remaining payment is applied to the assessment, leaving a small balance which will incur additional interest.
| ➡️ Our office hours are changing soon! Beginning November 2nd, we move back to our “water-off” schedule which is Monday-Thursday | 8am-5:30pm, closed Fridays.
| Our office is still closed to the public due to COVID-19.
That’s the latest for KID!
It’s been an interesting first year as your Public Relations Coordinator. Working from home has been quite the experience, especially now with a 5-year-old home with me! (Zoom meetings + a 5-year-old can be quite entertaining) And a senior dog! I learned a lot coming from healthcare and there’s still a lot more to learn. I did my absolute best to answer every question in my inbox and responded to roughly 90% of comments. However, I am open to suggestions, improvements or down right critiques of how you’d like me to reach you. (Constructive critiques) ?
Some things in the works are improvements to our water status map, digital marketing that will reach only you, our customers, and more engaging social media posts (We have Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook). We’re constantly evaluating our website as well, so if there’s information that’s not currently on there that you’d like to see, please let me know.
I’m not perfect, and there may be times an answer I give you isn’t what you wanted, but my goal is to see to it you are informed of KID’s projects and especially about the status of our water. Things are always in flux, laws are always changing and you need to be kept aware of those.
With that all said, thank you for following along with my posts. It’s been a great learning experience and I hope to continue to educate, inform and most importantly, serve you as your Public Relations Coordinator.
