KID Aquatic Herbicide and Algaecide Application Notice:

The Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) will apply aquatic herbicides and algaecides to the entire irrigation canal and lateral system for the control of aquatic weeds and algae. The products to be used are Nautique (Copper Ethylenediamine Complex and Copper Triethanolamine Complex), Captain, and Captain XTR (Copper Ethanolamine Complex), Copper Sulfate Crystals (Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate), Cascade (Dipotassium Salt of Endothall), Teton (Mono Salt of Endothall), Argos (Copper Ethanolamine Complex), SeClear (Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate), F-30 (Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate), and Green Clean Pro (Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate). All herbicide applications will take place between the dates of 01/01/2024 and 12/31/2024 under the Washington State Department of Ecology “IRRIGATION SYSTEM AQUATIC WEED CONTROL GENERAL PERMIT” issued on 8/23/23, effective on 10/2/23 and expiring on 10/1/28. Applications will be at the inlet to each canal and lateral, as well as applicable locations within the canal and lateral system. Application sites will be posted in accordance with the “IRRIGATION SYSTEM AQUATIC WEED CONTROL GENERAL PERMIT.” Irrigation water within the delivery system is intended for agriculture purposes only and is not intended for recreation, aquaculture, human and/or animal consumption or use.
